2019 Adelphi Dolphins Season Overview
Congratulations to our Adelphi Dolphins on their outstanding 2019 season! The Dolphins went 4-1 in the regular season and placed third overall (after a pre-season seeding of fourth) in Division B of the Prince Mont Swim League. This year the team was a bit smaller than in the past few years with 122 full team members, but we boasted 23 swimmers on our Pod Squad pre-team. We brought 18 athletes to the PMSL All Star meet and set lots of new team records there.
The team was lead by first season head coach Catherine Peterson and by assistant coaches: Kevin Long, Tasha Powers, and Alex Toth. The Dolphins hosted three very competitive Saturday meets, attended two away Saturday meets (one in Laurel, one in Waldorf), and attended two fun meets at Calverton Swim Club as well as the Knights of Columbus Mini Meet at the Prince George’s Council Pool. The Dolphins also hosted several Pasta Potlucks, the Pancake Breakfast, pep rallies, Charlie’s Cafes, stroke development clinics, a successful Long Course Luau fundraiser, our annual Swim-A-Thon fundraiser to support the Special Olympics of Maryland and finally our highly anticipated annual end of season banquet. It was a busy, fast-moving, full-of-fun season and we’re grateful to all our families for their volunteer efforts along the way! Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to seven wonderful, graduating senior swimmers but we look forward to a great group of Dolphins for the 2020 season — an Olympic summer is always extra special! Practice starts on Tuesday, May 26, 2020. See you then!
Great People. Great Pool. Great Swim Team.
